Internship Opportunities

Leap’s intern program gives new artists/architects and college students who are interested in teaching the arts a unique opportunity to work beside a professional artist in an educational setting.  Participants gain hands-on teaching experience and receive the opportunity to work with diverse groups of students with a wide range of abilities, backgrounds and ages.

Interns provide assistance to Leap Artists and Architects during residencies in elementary and middle schools throughout the San Francisco Bay Area in the following areas: classroom management, organizing materials, providing individual support to students and documenting the residency process.

There are a wide variety of opportunities available. Leap’s staff will work together with interns to custom design an internship that provides the best possible match in the areas of: Mentor Artist/Architect, artistic discipline, type of residency, location and schedule. Students may be able to obtain course credit for internships through their schools.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in and passion for the arts and arts education
  • Experience and/or interest in working with children
  • Maturity and grace in collaborating with others
  • Ability to make a commitment to a full residency (residency lengths will vary)
