Position(s) currently available:
TEACHING ARTISTS AND ARCHITECTS
Leap…imagination in learning is seeking energetic and talented teaching artists and architects for elementary and middle school residencies. Leap Artists and Architects teach in public and private elementary and middle schools in the San Francisco Bay Area. Most residencies take place in during the school day (between approximately 8:30 and 2:30).
Leap Artists and Architects team with classroom teachers to custom design residencies that integrate the arts with the academic curriculum and address grade level needs. Each residency is a unique creation that merges the Leap Artist or Architect’s skills and knowledge with the classroom teacher’s interests and classroom material.
Once an artist is hired, they will join the Leap Artist and Architect Roster, becoming eligible to teach in both current and future residencies through the Leap Artists and Architects in Schools program. Residencies vary in length and time, and continual employment is not guaranteed, however, there are many teaching opportunities throughout the school year.
Leap Artists and Architects receive a competitive hourly wage, and a materials budget is provided for all projects. No California teacher certification is required. Artists and Architects will be interviewed and auditioned, and if hired, will be trained in Leap’s model for curriculum integration and in-school partnership with classroom teachers.
